This type of classification helps to present recipes with another point of view and in an alternative manner. One thing is sure, there are many Greek recipes in this blog but there are also a lot of vegetable recipes, so I thought that a category for vegetarian and vegan (very trendy and for courageous people!) food might make sense. I also decided to include recipes coming from other cultures so I created an additional category for “Food for Around the World” :-) So enjoy :-)
Mini-cakes with banana
These mini-cakes with banana are very tasteful and even if they are a bit compact they have a very special taste because the banana goes very well with cinnamon and this special brown sugar called rapadura which has a very special perfume! You can add some walnuts for some extra flavor as well :-)
Eggplants « Imam Bayildi »
These eggplants are a Greek traditional dish but here we have its light version! The eggplants at the end are candied and their filling has also candied onions cooked in a tomato sauce! Veggies become candied thanks to the long cooking in the oven! It’s really good and light because they don’t have much olive oil! Give it a try and you will adopt the recipe without a question!
Tzatziki light
This is a light tzatziki that is made with a fresh French cheese called fromage blanc (coming from sheep it’s better)! If you can’t find it abroad use light Greek yogurt! The light version is much better than the full fat version! Give it a try and see :-)
Lentils the Greek way (fakes)
Lentils the Greek way are cooked as a soup or as a dish and they are made with tomato puree, onion and garlic and they have some bay leaf for extra flavor! You serve it with some red wine vinegar or Xérès vinegar and it’s really good! They are different from the lentils as we eat them in France and this recipe has better taste! But the lentils themselves are better in France than those in Greece and they cook faster! Give them a try and let me know!
Risotto with leeks the Greek way (prassorizo)
This is a very flavorful risotto thanks to dill that perfumes the dish in an extraordinary manner! Leaks go very well with onion and dill and the risotto is easy to make and rather quick for this quantity!
Meringue Italian biscuits with spices and dried fruits
These biscuits are called brutti ma buoni and they are very good! Spices (cinnamon, ginger and 4-spices) give them a mild character and roasted almonds and hazelnuts give their special character and some crunchiness! They are really good!
