Dear all,

Welcome to the weekly newsletter of solo food!

I hope that you are well and that your friends and family are also well! Summer is marching fast and there is only one month left to enjoy :) I enjoy summer this year but also I am working for you as you can see! I hope that you also enjoy being close to sea and swim because it’s so relaxing indeed!

If being by the sea it’s not possible, you should consider going close to nature, in a mountain, or in a forest or near a lake because this is also very relaxing! and if you are not that lucky, you should stay inventive and have as an objective to find some time and go close to nature because this is what matters the most!

And it’s me who says that, me who was a city girl and before coming to the South-West of France, I did not leave Paris at all! But I had found other ways to relax (cooking and baking nice things, listen to nice music, going swimming even in a pool, going to art exhibitions, not watching much TV…) and I had the luxury to go on holidays once a year! But it’s true, not everybody has this luxury! That’s why it’s so important to prepare nice things to eat and this is why I am here for you!

In detail, you will find at solo food:

Gaspacho with red pepper: This gaspacho with sweet red pepper is really good! It’s inspired by a recipe of the famous French Chef Alain Ducasse, who in his turn was inspired by a recipe of the 17th century :) You will need to leave the veggies in the fridge for 24h but it really worth waiting! Try it and tell me all about it :)

Tarts with cherry tomatoes and tapenade with black olives: I just love tarts and quiches and you can still eat some as long as you pay attention on quantities! These tartelettes with cherry tomatoes and homemade tapenade are simply delicious! The inspiration comes from the French Chef Christophe Felder who is very well-known for his desserts, but this small tart is very good indeed! Furthermore, it uses homemade puff pastry! Yes, you’ve read well, homemade puff pastry in its quick version! Give it a try just for demystifying the difficulty of homemade puff pastry, you will be surprised how easy it is and you will be very proud to have succeeded :) So what are you waiting for?
Quick Puff Pastry - solo food

Quick Puff Pastry: How is it possible to make a quick puff pastry you are surely wondering… so before discovering this recipe of the well-known French Pastry Chef Christophe Felder, I was thinking too that puff pastry was too difficult to be prepared at home! But at the end, when we are fixing an objective and find a way to get through, we are very proud to have succeeded :) because we can make puff pastry in 30’ (yes, you’ve read well), it does not have 1000 different levels but it is more mild, soft and airy than classic crusts (pâte sablée or brisée) :) Since I learnt how to make this puff pastry I have no longer bought industrial puff pastry :) It’s a challenge, I am sure of that, but what would life be without challenges ? Your turn to play, if you want it of course ;-)

To end this newsletter for today, I just want to share with you my vision for the next month concerning the blog. I’ve thought that you will be away on vacation and that it will be difficult to cook or bake, so I am going to publish more posts in the section “Between us…” and talk about books, music, TV series or other original texts that I am in the process of writing ;) What do you think about that?
A nice evening to you all and happy groceries :)

See you soon and take care,
Dimitra
