Dear all,

Welcome to this new edition of the solo food newsletter! In this edition you will discover 3 new recipes that are really French and so good! And with the recipe next week, you will have a full menu for Christmas or the New Year before time! It’s up to you… there will be of course other recipes but with these 3 recipes and the dessert next week you are covered :-)

You will find also a new video following me walking out during the night in Paris and a new section called "For Beginners" with recipes for people that have almost no experience in cooking and baking :-)

There is also a new article for the Georgia O’Keeffe exhibition at the Centre Pompidou in Paris because I love Georgia O’Keeffe and the exhibition presents many works of hers. It’s a great opportunity to see O’Keeffe’s work without going in the US. The article is quite interesting and brief so you will get to know a bit more on her and see some of her work!

Cu soon on social and at www.solofood.fr !

Take care!

Bises,
Dimitra

soufflé aux cèpes

Porcini Soufflé

This is a soufflé with a very strong taste of porcini mushrooms and it’s really good because porcini are very good :-) You will also find some French Comté (which can be replaced by gruyere) and some smoked bacon to give more flavor and taste! It does not matter that the soufflé shrinks quite fast after taking it out of the oven because it’s good no matter what, and it’s even good the day after :-) Try it, it’s well explained and everybody can do a soufflé after this recipe ;-)

pommes dauphines

Pommes Dauphines

The pommes dauphines are French small potatoes that are elaborated with potato puree and choux dough! They are quickly fried and get a brief time in the oven :-) The result is simply splendid! They are my favorite potatoes in France and after all it’s not that difficult! You only need to know how to handle a piping bag and that’s all! They are still very good the day after! Give them a try, they worth it and you worth it!

Roast Pork à la française

Roast Pork à la française

This roast pork comes from a recipe from the Great and very famous French Chef called Pierre Gagnaire! It’s really good! It comes with an extraordinary sauce that it’s really simple to make! Its taste is so French (!) and that’s why I gave it this name :-) The way the meat is cooked results to a juicy and moist filet, and the sauce is made with white wine along with the cooking juice, and t’s even more enhanced because the meat is cooked on top of veggies (carrots, onion and garlic), which in their turn are perfumed with thyme and bay lead! It’s really good and it was so surprising to me who was not used to French cooking! I suggest trying it asap!

Georgia O Keeffe - Centre Pompidou

Georgia O’Keeffe – Centre Pompidou

If you don’t know about Georgia O’Keeffe it’s time you get to know her! She is an American artist who decided to spare her Art from the traditional western painting, but also from the European Modernism (too masculine) and even from the American painting of her time! She made all these break through and remained zen and offered wonderful colors and some fearless shapes that use “swords” to represent delicate and sometimes fragile things! If you are in Paris, don’t miss the exhibition, it’s up until the 6th of December!

pour les cancres - vertical - FR

For Beginners

to new section went out this week and it’s made especially for people who do not know how to cook or bake, and who are afraid of that because they are not very successful at it! But it’s a pity not to cook or bake because it’s such a creative process, and at the end you have something good to taste. After all, all things in life can be taught and if you have the right instructions that are well explained and detailed enough, and even reveal how to season exactly (!) then you have nothing to be afraid off, cooking and baking becomes a game :-) It’s just a matter of knowing how to slice an onion (even approximately), or having a whisk at home, or if you are in a bit more luxury mode, to own an electric hand mixer! So why do you still continue eating out or order take-out when there are alternatives? It’s easy… just go ahead, and remember I will always be there to help you! Enjoy!
